Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Harris is the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and also as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Her first job was in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010, and was reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election and became the second African American woman to serve in Congress , and the only South Asian American American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is most famous for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
