Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank until today. In February of 2020, she has made 53 deals on the show, with the most significant one being $350,000 to purchase 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's early years. At times, her family relied on deliveries of food for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who sometimes consumed too much alcohol and was rude to her mother and condescension, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran struggled at school, and eventually discovered that she had dyslexia. She attended an area Catholic elementary school, and then began the high school system in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in several courses her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
